Course Highlight: Ornithology
There is a new class taking flight at Chatham’s Eden Hall campus this semester, that’s full of fun, feathers, kayaking, and more. Ornithology (a.ka. the study of birds) is being offered through a partnership with the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, and it offers hands-on experience for students to learn more about our local birds.

Paving a Path to Medical School
The road to medical school may not always be an easy one, but thanks to Chatham’s pre-med advising program, it can at least be straight forward. We caught up with Associate Professor of Biology and head of the pre-med advising program, Dr. Pierette Appasamy to learn more about a program that’s sending students to medical school left and right.
The Emerging Black Writers-in-Residence Program
The way the program works is this: each semester, the MFACW program hosts one Emerging Black Writer-in-Residence. The resident teaches a semester-long multi-genre workshop to Chatham MFACW students. They also deliver a public craft lecture, a public reading of their work, and enter into professional mentorship relationships with Chatham faculty.
Shedding Some Light on Crime with Dr. Christine Sarteschi
Associate Professor of Criminology and Social Work, Dr. Christine Sarteschi explores some of the darkest and most difficult to understand aspects of our society. From mass murder to the sovereign citizens’ movement, her work is equally fascinating and disturbing. Perhaps that’s why she is so frequently tapped to provide expert insight to national media outlets.
